Will hyperTracker work for all my marketing campaigns? |
|
hyperTracker has been designed to work with any URL (website address beginning with http:// or https://). It will track unique visitors plus with the use of a special snippet of HTML code on the appropriate pages on your website, it will track a many other statistics as well.
You can use the special tracking URLs in ezines, on websites, banner advertisements, FFA sites, anywhere (as long as it doesn't breach our anti-spam policy) and your visitors will be tracked regardless.
|
2. |
How it is able to track users if I'm not adding anything to any other pages except for the sale confirmation page? |
|
There is a special technique called 'cookies', which recognizes the user even if he closes the browser and opens it again after few days. It assigns the user to the campaign (i.e. to the banner he clicked on) and even after some time has passed, will identify him when he is placing an order. This way you don't have to insert the code into all of your pages - one short snippet of code inside the confirmation page is enough!

What browsers does hyperTracker work with? |
|
hyperTracker has been designed to work with any browser that's capable of handling forms and tables. In other words, it doesn't matter whether you use Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mac browsers, WebTV, AOL or anything. It's a completely automated online service that requires no downloads, no plugins and no special browsers. It will work with any computer connected to the 'net.
|
5. |

|
6. |
I keep getting asked to log back in. What's wrong? |
|

This ensures that a long period of computer inactivity doesn't leave your account open to prying eyes. If the problem

7. |
Do you have any restrictions on using the service? |
|
The only restriction we have is that you must not associate hyperTracker in any way with promoting by means of spam. We simply do not tolerate it. Any spam complaint that arises from the use of a hyperTracker URL will be subject to a $500 cleanup fee and possible further legal action.
|
8. |
What is Duplicate Protection and how does it work? |
|
Duplicate Protection that can track individual clicks for a specific product or for an entire campaign. This feature protects your hyperTracker from counting the same action, click or sale from the same visitor over a specified period of time. Therefore, if a visitor refreshes the page the visitor is only counted as one click rather than two.
You can enable / disable this feature plus you set-up a time period for a selected product. This is accomplished by changing the following code: &protection=default to &protection=YOUR_VALUE. YOUR_VALUE is the number of minutes a duplicate action or sale should not be counted again. If you do not have the code you can simply add the second string.
|
9. |
How can I use my tracking with SSL Secure sites? |
|
To use hyperTracking with an SSL SECURE webpage you need to slightly alter the integration code generated on the "Create HTML Code" page. The integration code automatically uses http://hypertracker.com/, alter the code to read https://secure.hypertracker.com before placing it on your web page.
|
10. |
Why should I use hyperTracker instead of any other tracking engine? |
|
HyperTracker offers more features for less. A full comparison to other popular tracking engines is available for your review here.
|
11. |
What is a subcampaign and how can I use it to my benefit? |
|
hyperTracker has the ability to individual advertisements such as banners, pop-ups and links within a larger campaign. For example, you may have a campaign to increase your newsletter subscription rate. To do this you have used a banner on a friend's site, a button on your site and a classified online ad. The major campaign is the Newsletter. The subcampaigns are banner, button and classified ad. This allows you to see which advertisement is the strongest.
You can also use hyperTracker subcampaigns to track which search engines are giving you the best results. The main campaign is Search Engines. Your subcampaigns would be the name of the search engine (i.e. Yahoo, Northern Light, Google, etc.).
|
12. |
How do I create a subcampaign? |
|
Create your main campaign as usual and write down your target URL. When you place your redirect URLs in your banner, link, button, search engine, etc. enter a subcampaign identifier at the end. You do not need to create a new campaign for each subcampaign. For example, Mr. Gold wants to track visitors coming from Yahoo and Google. His main redirect URL is
http://hypertracker.com/go/mrgold/searchengines
To track visitors from Yahoo he would simply add /yahoo to the end of his redirect main campaign URL like this
http://hypertracker.com/go/mrgold/searchengines/yahoo
The same applies for tracking visitors coming from Google.
http://hypertracker.com/go/mrgold/searchengines/google
|
13. |
What is Quick Target? |
|
The Quick Target feature will allow you to override the target URL and send the visitor to another site while maintaining your tracking capabilities. To use this feature you must use a subcampaign identifier then add your Quick Target URL. For example, Mr. Gold wants to redirect his visitors to http://anotherzip.com. Therefore, he would use the following redirect URL:
http://hypertracker.com/go/mrgold/campaign/sub/http://anotherzip.com
|
14. |
How do I use the Query String? |
|
The Query String feature is used to redirect clients using dynamically created parameters. For example, Mr. Gold can track payments handled by any online credit card processing site. Mr. Gold redirects his customer to a transaction page using a link such as:
http://creditcardpaymentsite.com/buy.cgi?product=PRODUCT_NAME&price=PRICE
To track the number of clients using this service, Mr. Gold created a subcampaign called payment and uses the target URL:
http://creditcardpaymentsite.com/buy.cgi
The tracking URL he uses on his site is:
http://hypertracker.com/go/mrgold/payment/?product=PRODUCT_NAME&price=PRICE
PRODUCT_NAME and PRICE are dynamically generated values.

15. |
How do I can use SHORT tracking url with my own domain name? |
|
If you want to use tracking url with your own domain name, and you want it to be really short (i.e. http://www.mysite.com/banner3/ instead of http://www.mysite.com/ht.php?a=user&b=banner3), you should do the following:
Create a directory called 'banner3' (or whatever your campaign name is) in your website main directory, than create index.php file in there. This file should contains only one line:
<? header('Location: http://www.hypertracker.com/go/user/banner3/'); ?>
This way you can easily use sophisticated features like Quick Target or Query String still with your OWN domain name, and really short traffic URL!
If something doesn't work, try to ask your ISP if the server allows using PHP or Perl scripts and what file extension you should use (commonly .php, .php3, .phtml, .html).
If your server allows using Perl/CGI scripts instead of PHP (ask your administrator), than you should create index.pl file (or index.cgi - depending on server configuration) with two following lines in:
#!/usr/bin/perl print 'Location: http://www.hypertracker.com/go/user/banner3/'."\n\n";
For ASP-based pages you can create default.asp file with following line:
<% Response.Redirect "http://www.hypertracker.com/go/user/banner3/" %>
If you are not able to use any server-side technology (like PHP, Perl, ASP, etc.), you can use simple HTML technique called META REDIRECT. Instead of index.php, you should create index.html file with these lines inside:
<HTML><HEAD> <META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="1; URL=http://www.hypertracker.com/go/user/banner3/"> </HEAD></HTML>
META REDIRECT method is little bit slower and it's dependent on client's browser (some browsers may not handle it properly), so we are recommending PHP or Perl redirection instead.
|
16. |
Is there the ability to delete selected clicks/sales/actions? |
|
You can delete selected events manually. What you have to do is click "Show logged information" on your "Campaign details" page, choose the checkboxes next to entries you want to delete, and click "Delete" button below the results table.
|
17. |
How can I disable counting my own test sales/clicks? |
|
If you don't want to count clicks/actions/sales every time when YOU are accessing one of your confirmation pages, you can exclude your IP number from counting! Choose 'exclude hosts' from the 'your account' menu, enter your IP address and test your website.
|
18. |
Cost of one click is various for my pay-per-click campaign - how can I count total campaign cost properly? |
|
You can add cost of the click in your Tracking URL, like this:
http://hypertracker.com/go/user/overture:0.32/
where 'user' is your account name, 'overture' is campaign identifier and 0.32 is cost per click.
This feature is most useful when you want to track few keywords in one campaign, and each keyword has its own price per click. For example Mr. Gold is advertising four keywords in Overture Search Engine - goldmine, money, cash and marketing. He should use following tracking links:
http://hypertracker.com/go/mrgold/overture:0.13/goldmine/ http://hypertracker.com/go/mrgold/overture:0.21/money/ http://hypertracker.com/go/mrgold/overture:0.45/cash/ http://hypertracker.com/go/mrgold/overture:0.44/marketing/
Remember, that campaign MUST be configured as "PPC" (pay-per-click).

How can I count sales/actions without using <IMG ...> code? |
|
In some cases you may not have confirmation page and want to count clicks on links listed on your page. If you are affiliate and you're running the webpage with affiliate links, your 'sale' or 'action' is done when visitor clicks an affiliate link. If you allow a download of free software, you may not want to count 'action' when visitor is looking at the download webpage, but when he REALLY does download your software... There is many possibilities when you cannot or don't want to use <IMG ...> code...
Counting URL feature allows you to track clicks FROM your website in the same way as sales / actions. All you have to do is to change target link on your page (i.e. http://paymoney.com?aff=123) to Counting URL:
http://hypertracker.com/link/user/paymoney:0.03/1/http://paymoney.com?aff=123
This Counting URL is simply the same as code snippet:
<IMG SRC="http://hypertracker.com/count.php? user=user&name=paymoney&sales=1&description= &value=0.03&protection=default" BORDER="0" HEIGHT="1" WIDTH="1" ALT="">
but it don't need to be located on confirmation page and it is redirecting visitor to http://paymoney.com?aff=123.
|
20. |
Do I need to create integration HTML code for each of my campaign? |
|
No. You should put only one HTML snippet (unless you have more than one products) and it will track results of all your campaigns
|
21. |
Do I need to create a campaign for each of my products? |
|
No. Remember, that campaign is not tied to a specific product, but to the specific advertisement. So you need to create a campaign for each of your advertising (banners, email signature, etc.), but not for each of your product. Product orders are tracked with integration code.
|
22. |
How to track sales of more than one product? |
|
To track sales of more than one product, you need to place a HTML integration snippet for each of your products, with the name, description and price for this specific product. Remember, that on the confirmation page there should be only snippets for products which have been actually sold in the current order! This often needs some basic programming skills, so the HTML code is generated dynamically, depending what was ordered by customer. If you are using a shopping cart, ask your webmaster if he is able to create a confirmation page with list of currently ordered products. Without it, you will be unable to properly track sales from shopping cart engine.
|
23. |
Is there any possibility to track clicks using <IMG ...> code instead of Tracking URL? |
|
You can assign customer to the specific campaign without using Tracking URL, but <IMG ...> code. HyperTracker allows you to setup HTML page views in the same way as clicks. This feature is especially usefull if you are using popup advertising or you want to track click whether customer reads the email (HTML version) that you send out.
To count page view as click, you need to place a snippet of code into the page:
<IMG SRC="http://www.hypertracker.com/view/USER/CAMPAIGN/SUBCAMPAIGN" BORDER="0" WIDTH="1" HEIGHT="1">
Remember, that if you want to track a recipient opening the email, this feature is working only with HTML-friendly email readers (like MS Outlook).
|
24. |
How to provide access to specified campaign only for other persons (i.e. my affiliates or customers)? |
|
You are able to provide access to a campaign for selected persons giving them your HyperTracker Account name, Campaign identifier and Campaign password. On this page: http://www.HyperTracker.com/external/ they will be able to see all campaign statistics including campaign analysis and logged information.
This feature is especially useful for simple affiliate-based programs (one campaign for one affiliate) or if you are selling advertising space on your website (you can provide Campaign password for your customers).
On the External View page (http://www.HyperTracker.com/external/) customer is not able to change anything (i.e. delete any events) or export the data to CSV. He is not able to see your other campaigns or login as you. Also, there is no possibility to provide access only to a specified subcampaign.
